ScaleBud 2 maintains the core functionality of its predecessor while introducing an array of new features:

Boasting over 110 scales, which is 2.5 times more scales than the original ScaleBud
Capability to craft custom scales and seamlessly share them with companion apps like SnakeBud and MelodyBud
Infinite keyboard rows featuring diverse key/scale/chord configurations
Enhanced MIDI keyboard mapping, allowing for the division of the MIDI keyboard and management of multiple ScaleBud 2 keyboard rows
Ability to play MIDI keyboard notes precisely within the scale by rounding off-scale notes to the nearest scale note
No limit on pattern pages with the added flexibility to switch between them using MIDI CC messages
Inclusion of Scale Finder AU, a tool designed to pinpoint scales containing desired notes, among other functionalities

ScaleBud 2 functions as both an AUv3 Audio Unit plugin, compatible with host applications such as AUM, Cubase, Nanostudio, Beatmaker, and apeMatrix, and as a standalone application. The software extends utility by enabling users to control audio applications via ScaleBud 2's keyboard rows. This requires routing ScaleBud 2's MIDI output to the intended audio app's MIDI input.

Moreover, ScaleBud 2 doubles as a MIDI transformer when paired with a MIDI keyboard. This opens up possibilities for controlling any of ScaleBud's keyboard rows through a hardware MIDI keyboard. Users enjoy the freedom to assign varying MIDI channels, input ranges, and transpose incoming MIDI notes' octaves when leveraging ScaleBud 2 in this capacity. Essentially, this permits playing consistently within a scale or triggering chords with a single key press on the keyboard.

An additional feature allows users to split their MIDI keyboard using the "MIDI input range" settings within ScaleBud's keyboard rows. This separation facilitates playing chords on one section of the keyboard while executing individual notes on another.

Note that ScaleBud 2 is exclusively a MIDI application and does not generate sound independently. To interact with audio, supplementary apps are required. Integration with AUv3 plugins necessitates an Audio Unit host app like AUM, Cubase, Nanostudio, Beatmaker, or apeMatrix.
